Onyeka Nwigwe

Onyeka Nwigwe has over five years’ experience in Peace building, Preventing Violent Extremism, Community Development and Public Policy. He is the founder and executive director of the African Resilient Initiative for Community & Sustainable Development –  a youth led organisation implementing creative approaches to mitigate youth vulnerability to violence, enhance social cohesion and deepen development in underserved communities through global citizenship and peace education, literacy development, gender mainstreaming and youth engagement & empowerment. These have impacted 21 teachers, and over 6,000 students with skills on peace building and conflict management, empowered over 2,900 girls with literacy and literary skills, provided psycho-social support, in addition to improving literacy and numeracy skills of over 700 children in refugee camps, while also increasing youth participation in governance in Taraba state.

Onyeka is an alumni of Barack Obama’s USAID funded Young African Leaders Initiative, West African Regional Leadership Center, a global activist with ONE Campaign, the Founding curator of  Global Shapers Community, Jalingo Hub(an initiative of the World Economic Forum) and a 2022 Queen’s CommonwealthTrust Young Leader. Onyeka is a chartered member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Abuja, Nigeria, and certifications from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and the United States Institute of Peace.
