Yusuf is a legal practitioner with a bias for public interest law and litigation. He is driven by the desire to utilise the full strength of the law to help those in need find trust and solace in the Nigerian legal and justice system. He is the Founder and Executive Director at the Foundation for Public Interest Law and Development (The Pro Bono Centre). The foundation provides legal assistance to the indigent by connecting them to volunteer lawyers willing to provide pro bono legal services; leverage data and technology to monitor the trends in the justice sector, demand social accountability, and help the populace resolve their most pressing justice problems.
In 5 years, the Foundation has partnered with local and international organisations to educate 45 inmates at Ikoyi Custodial Correctional Centre on the functioning of the formal court, participated in the Police Duty Solicitors Scheme (PDSS) by assisting 18 Magistrates and participated in 214 cases, all of whom were released on bail. Yusuf has certifications in Non-Profit Management Programme from the Lagos Business School and a Leadership in Public Management from Bridgewater State University.
